Joshua 1-5
Wow, what a beginning to the book of Joshua. The people who had walked in the wilderness are now gone and there children have not followed in the ways of the Lord. Because of that they are oppressed and then a might judge is raised up. That judge serves for a while and then dies. The people go back to their ways. This cycle repeats over and over again in the book of Judges so get used to it. The Israelites kept on coming to God but then walking away from God. Wait a minute! This sounds a lot like Christians today. We serve God then we grow weary and begin to walk away, then we cry out to God because of a crisis in our life and then we stay with God for awhile. Then the cycle begins all over again. Make your commitment to Christ much more of a steady walk toward him instead of an up and down roller coaster!
