I Kings 1-4
It is interesting that we get to this reading on April 1st if you started on January 1st with the readings. The very idea that today is called April Fool's day stands in direct contrast to the wisdom displayed by Solomon. If you were in Solomon's position and God came to you in a dream and asked what you wanted, what would you say? Would you ask for wisdom, or money, or fame, or success? Solomon asked for wisdom and thus God gave him that and then everything else one might ask for when God gives you a blank check. I wonder if we should be more careful what we ask for. Maybe we are asking for too little from God or maybe we are only asking for the stuff instead of the wisdom to deal with life.
