Mark 1-3
Mark gives a very quick and fast paced look at the life of Jesus. He squeezes a tremendous amount of action into a small amount of chapters. In these first three chapters we find a curious idea that is expressed in Matthew as well that Jesus says why would we put a new cloth to patch old clothing or new wine into old wine skins. Clearly Jesus was bringing something new to the belief system of the world. He was making people who had been wrapped up in religious ritual take a second look at a Messiah who was bringing relationship to them. Jesus was certainly bringing something new, I hope we are pursuing the new rather then the old.
