Day 301

John 6-8

Jesus starts to make a distinction between simply trying to follow him to get something and truly being devoted to him in all you do. He speaks to the people he fed as they try and pursue him for more food. He says to them that they must try and "eat of his flesh and drink of his blood." He was attempting to show them that they would need to suffer to follow him. After this point his following begins to dwindle. I wonder if we are trying to have big churches and large followings but are neglecting some of the harder teachings of Jesus. To be a disciple we must take up our cross and follow him daily.
