For example, you could say "I want to lose 10 lbs this year, or I want to read the Bible 10 minutes a day this year, or I want to climb Mt. Everest." These goals will help you to accomplish exactly what you set out to accomplish.
Lastly, develop the plan to fulfill this goal. For example to lose 10 lbs you might need to use a calorie counter to gauge what you are eating. If you want to read the Bible 10 minutes a day then I suggest a Bible reading plan that falls inline with this goal. Lastly, to climb Mt. Everest...well I have no clue what you would need!
I have set aside a few goals for myself this year:
1. Memorize a new verse of scripture each week this year. I have found a great app on my iPhone to help me do this by inputing the verses I want to memorize. It reminds me every morning at 8:45 to memorize and review the scriptures.
2. I want to finish a half-ironman triathlon this year. Now this is not a goal that just came up, but one I have been working on for 3 years now.
3. I want to blog each Monday. Well this is the first Monday of the year so I have finished week 1! That means 51 more subjects to blog about.
These are just a few of my goals that I want to put in my life to help me become a better follower of Christ. What are your goals?
Til next week.
