Day 32

Leviticus 1-3

As I wrote in the last blog post, Leviticus is sometimes where people turn around and face the other way when it comes to reading the Bible through in a year. They for some reason stop on the edge of the cliff and are afraid to jump off. It seems a daunting task. While these feelings are real for most of us who have ever attempted this journey, don't let this book trip you up. Look for the hidden gems of God's love and grace. Hunt for the tenets of responsibility and obedience that God requires. But most importantly look for the reasons why Jesus had to come and die for our sins, that is that no one could live up to the standards of a Holy God.

These first offerings are those that were laid out by God to govern all sacrifices. Other groups in the area might have used animal sacrifices to, in their minds, appease a god, but the God of the Bible had specific ways these sacrifices must be handled.

Tomorrow's reading: Leviticus 4-7.
