Day 37

Leviticus 18-20

Today's reading is all about declaring a certain level of morality for the people of Israel. The main point of this reading is found in Leviticus 20:7 when God says "So set yourselves apart to be holy, for I am the Lord your God." God was giving laws that if the people followed them would give them distinctiveness from the other people around them. We know from the rest of the story that many times the people of Israel chose to not follow these laws and God disciplined them. I wondered as I read this as to how we as Christians today are making ourselves markedly different from those who do not follow Christ. Statistically there isn't a big difference unfortunately among Christians and non-Christians where it involves divorce and the like. I hope that we can begin as believers to show that our conduct is different because of who we follow and because of whose people we are.

Tomorrow's reading: Catch up day!
