Day 36

Leviticus 16-17

Today's reading is about the Day of Atonement. This day was marked each year by the people of Israel having a sacrifice given for their sins at the Tabernacle or later on the Temple and then a 'scapegoat' being sent out into the wilderness to demonstrate the sins of the people being taken away. While this day was holy and marked a very special moment in the year it did not permanently separate the people's sin debt from their life. It was only the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus on the cross that took our debt of sin and made us whole. Thank you Jesus!

Tomorrow's reading: Leviticus 18-20
