Numbers 21-25
This reading has a couple of interesting notes. First we get a precursor of Jesus in the object of the bronze snake. God says that it should be lifted up and when the people gaze upon it the snake bites would not harm them. In the same way Jesus was lifted up and if we will look to Him and his sacrifice we will be saved from our sinful poison. The second note involves Balaak and the donkey. This story is one of the most fascinating in all of scripture. The main point is that God can use anyone that he wishes to do His will and will use any means necessary to wake us up to His will. God is indeed sovereign over all people and all things.
