Day 106

I am terribly behind. I hope to catch up this week. Hang in there. I will put the reading assignments at the end of this blog so you can catch up. Keep pressing on, the reward is great!

I Chronicles 1-9

These first 9 chapters of the book of I Chronicles highlights the genealogy of the people of Israel from the time of Adam to the present. This type of reading is tedious and may not show much in the form of applicable meaning, but it is important to show the long heritage of the people of God in relationship with God. Chronicles was written as the last book of the Old Testament. This book is an overview of all that God has done from the dawn of time to right after the exile of Judah. I think it is important for us to note where the downfall of the nation came. It is at the root of Deuteronomy 6. Parents are to teach their children the ways of God. When they do not do this the future generations lose their bearings in terms of following God. What kind of legacy are you leaving for your children? Are you teaching them the ways of the Lord? Remember that one day future generations may write about your genealogy. Will you be simply a name on a page or will you be highlighted as a major influence for God on your family?
