Day 104

II Kings 22-25

The tragedy of the people of God finally comes to a devastating end. Josiah's reforms while good were not enough to avoid the judgment of God. Notice that in this reading Josiah "re-discovers" the law and institutes a passover. The text says that a passover had not been held since the time of the Judges. Centuries had passed and the people of God had not been reminded of the great story of their past. They had not heard of the faithfulness of God. They simply did not grasp the goodness of God. No wonder they worshipped these other gods because they did not know the one true God. I fear this scenarios being played out in the church of today. How many young people will pass through the church not ever grasping the true God through Jesus Christ. The church can simply fall apart by not spreading the good news. I pray that we would be a people that would be about telling the story of the goodness of God. This is the reason we celebrate the Lord's supper/communion/eucharist. Jesus instructed his followers to always remember him through this ceremony. Take some time today to remember Jesus.

Tomorrow's reading: Break/Catch up day

P.S. I am still trying to get caught up, sorry. Hang in there!
