Day 140

Job 11-14

Job's third friend rises up with a vengeance. He tells Job that he is being disrespectful to God and his hiding his true sin. Zophar wants Job to confess what he has done wrong. This friend is not into comfort or sympathy of any kind. He feels that Job has violated the laws of God and he is suffering because God is just in his punishments. Job defends himself and actually asks God for a time to defend himself against whatever God has against him. Do you ever feel like you want to face God and ask him what in the world is going on? Yet like Job I think we would all begin to say don't be "too awesome" or "too frightening." No matter how comfortable we may be with God, he is still too awesome for us to encounter face to face.

Tomorrow's reading: Job 15-17
