Day 225

Jeremiah 46-52

Wow, the brutal end of Jeremiah's book shows how incredibly evil the nation of Judah had become. It also shows how the nations around Judah were going to be treated. Finally, you see the glimmer of hope as God tells the people what is going to happen to them and that there would eventually be a remnant return to the land. Don't underestimate the power of hope. Jeremiah had these statements written down and then read to the people as they entered Babylon. They were discouraged and heartbroken. They might have even felt abandoned by God, but God wanted them to know that he had not forgotten them. He also wanted them to know that during the time of discipline he loved them just as much. Maybe that is something for you to think about today about your own relationship with God.

Tomorrow's reading: Lamentations 1-5
