Day 310

Acts 13-15

The Jerusalem council is a landmark occurrence in the life of the early church. The Gentiles were coming to Christ but there were questions about how Jewish they must become. Through staunch debate and the leading of the Holy Spirit the church agrees to recognize them as believers but they must follow a few general rules. This exchange which could have placed a schism in the church from the very beginning, is merely another time of discovery of the power of God. Why do so many churches end up in disagreement. The question is not if the church will have disagreement because we see that even in the church run by the apostles. The question is how is the church going to deal with the disagreement. We need to have a lot more prayer, fasting, and discussion then arguing, hatred, bickering, and gossip.

Tomorrow's reading: Acts 16-18
