Day 354

II John

This is a terse and matter of fact letter from John. He is adamant that we love others but we do not allow Christian brothers and sisters to deceive themselves of the Church. Too often church discipline is too difficult for us to tackle because we fear rejection and anger, yet are we allowing things to slide by that need to called on the carpet. The non-church world typically has a negative view of church mainly because they cannot deal with the hypocrisy they see. If we began to lovingly confront sin in the rank and file of the church then maybe we would see a change of this perception. No one is perfect and thus we are all subject to correction. It is abundantly clear that many pastors need correcting as well. Too many pastors are committing the sins they are supposed to preach against and this leaves a wake of destruction in its path. I have seen this devastating affect up close and personal and do not want to see it again.
