Day 100

II Kings 4-8

Wow, you have made it 100 days. Congratulations. Keep going, it will be well worth it.

This passage has many parts to it but I want to focus on the section that discusses Naaman, the man with leprosy. He approaches Elisha and asks to be healed. Elisha is more than obliged to fulfill his request. Elisha tells Naaman to go and dip himself seven times in the Jordan river and he will be healed. Naaman is furious at this request and wants his healing to take place a different way. Naaman's advisers tell him that if the prophet had given him something very difficult to do he would have done it so he should do this simple thing and see if the prophet is true in his word. Naaman goes to the river and is healed. I wonder how many of us have tried to complicate the message of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice was incredible but salvation is rather easy. All it takes is a step of belief and faith along with repentance to be saved. Baptism follows as the first act of obedience. Remember that God never wanted our relationship to be complicated with him. He desires your fellowship in very simple ways.

Tomorrow's reading: II Kings 9-12
