Matthew 5-7
The sermon on the mount is an amazing set of teachings from Jesus. You can glean more than a blogpost worth of spiritual content from these chapters. I will focus in on a couple of overarching themes. First, Jesus is clear that we should not be religious showoffs. What we do for him should be done with a sincere heart. This does not mean we should not celebrate what we do, but we should give God all the glory and seek none of it for ourselves. Secondly, Jesus wanted it to be abundantly clear that if you obey his teachings you are building a solid foundation, but if you choose not to follow him then you are on shaky ground. I am glad to be standing on the firm foundation. How about you?
