Day 321

Romans 9-11

These chapters deal specifically with the calling of God and the nation of Israel. Many have made these chapters a treatise of election of which they do speak but they more importantly speak of the Jewish people rejecting the Gospel. Paul makes it clear that by the Jews choosing to reject the gospel, the Gentiles now have a chance to have the mercy of God. He closes chapter 11 by saying that all people now have been cast into disobedience so that all may be shown God's mercy. One cannot escape the incredible tension that Paul places on the election of God and the choice of man. In these chapters he talks about how God hardens some hearts to complete a purpose. Just know that you can either reject or accept the gospel of Jesus Christ. Don't try to figure out if you or someone else is the elect. We all have a choice to make. Will you receive Christ into your life? I hope you have but if you have not then today is the day.

Tomorrow's reading: Romans 12-16
